Just thought I would post a few of the words that my Dad and Grandma taught me from her native language. Hope they make sense to you, as I have just spelled them as they sound, and not sure that is correct spelling.
Yazik...tongue
Malecka....Milk
Crawva...Cow
Reka...Bum
Roka...Arm (don't get these too mixed up!)
Glava.....Head Glava Bolee means Headache
Crumpier.......potato
Prosits....pig ( short o)
Zits....(long I) Rabbit
Yitsa....(long I) egg
Kuk ya ota....(short O)...what time is it
Luck a neutch.......Good night
Sa Preta Rata.....Shut the door
Sa Da.....NOW
Ida Kutchi.....Go home My Aunt Louise Pestotnik (not really, but that is what I called her, just a dear friend who was also a bohunk, used to get mad at me and her daughter Sandy and say to us, Ida Kutchi, Sa Da.. Go home right now
Bo ma......Grandma's favorite cuss word, but I am not sure what it means!
I say this a lot when I get upset or mad!

Valeka....Big
Te gonskee o trock.....Ragged Boy
Pa Mogie... Help (short a)
Jifa.....Soap ( long i)
A'tha.....Grandpa (short first a)
Tata....Aunt (short a's)
Streets.......Uncle
Smirkinsa......Snotnose...I was called this a lot!!!!
Putter.......butter
Kruha......Bread
Noisht....Knife
Kiltsa.....Fork
Chew Beetsa.....Pouty
Pod a la.... fall down. Grandma used to say, Pod a la Pod a la when she thought I might fall from something.
Cola, Padurgna... means coal and wood.
Motch ka..... Dog Puss...... Cat
and some numbers Dad could remember

Also, whenever Dad would answer the phone I could count on hearing
Ka Co Tee.... (short a)which means how are you. And I would reply Do bra Tee (Long O)which means" fine, you?"
I forgot to add one... Tina lepa Poonsa.....Means 'Your a Pretty girl"

This was so much fun. Thank you Claudia. In our house my dad always said Lock-a nuetch to us at night. I wonder what bo ma means. I remember grandma saying something like oy, oy, oy when upset. I also remember Tata and Ka Co Tee and Do Bra Tee. It gives me a warm feeling to hear these words again. Lock-a-nuetch Claudia.
