John and Angela Home in Kenilworth, Utah
According to Grandma DeNiece, this is a recent picture of the old home that Grandpa John and Grandma Angela lived in when Grandpa was a coal miner in Kenilworth UT. They raised their family here for about 17 years. Jim and DeNiece lived on the same street for the first three years of their marriage when Jim was a coal miner.
They ( John and Angela) also had a small dairy. They had milk cows and supplied the locals with milk.

Losing one of the Smolic's.......

SPRING GLEN - Jerry Mathew Smolic, age 57, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 21, 2010 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born August 31, 1952 in Portland, Ore. to Albert John and Louise Kozel Smolic.
Married Kathleen L. Kennedy, Dec. 19, 1998 in Helper.
Matt was raised and educated in Tacoma, Wash. where he was a graduate of Clover Park High School in 1970. He shared a great love for the outdoors, golfing, scuba diving, riding his motorcycles, jogging, and doing anything to keep physically fit. His first love was programming and repairing computers, but over the past few years his true passion was riding his Harley with his friends at Friendship Riders.
At the time of his passing he was employed as a truck driver at Longwall West in Price where he was well respected by all in the industry. Matt thought the world of his family at Longwall West and they truly meant the world to him and his family. He was loved by all and his passing will leave a void that will never be filled.
Matt is survived by his wife, Katie Smolic, Spring Glen; daughters, DiDi (Gabriel) Orta, Brandie Belcher, both of Puyallup, Wash.; son, Jerry Schumaker, Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; four brothers, Albert (Sarah) Smolic, Eugene, Ore., Ken Smolic, Roggen, Colo., Tommy (Katie) Smolic, Tacoma, Wash., Cary (Nancy) Smolic, Maple Valley, Wash.; step-children, Allen, Kelley, Jodie, Joe and Jammie Timblin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service, Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Online condolences of Matt can be shared at mitchellfuneralhome.net.

Starich Reunion......
Was looking through some old photos the other day and came across these.
The top one was at Robbin's ( Shirley's youngest daughter) wedding.
Me ( claudia) in pink, Aunt Mitzi, (Grandma Angela's sister-in-law), Aunt Olga, and Shirley. Around 1980. The second picture was of the sign I made for the Starich Reunion. My husband Jim in foreground with my daughter Danelle. Jean is at the table in the flowered shirt. Ted (Bev's son) is in the left background with his family.
This is a grouping of 4 pictures at the reunion. Top left is Dan laying on the bench with me in the background. Pat and Aunt Deniece visiting on next table. My son in law Joe is directly behind me with Erick ( my son) and his girls at the end of the bench. Jean's daughter Shawnette is with her back to Pat. The picture on the right is my daughter Danelle, Aunt Eddy and Shirley. With Shawnette next to Shirley.
The left bottom is Jean and her husband Lester. I think he had had surgery on his shoulder. Right photo is another view of previous one but with Aunt Deniece looking at me. We had a fun time. Wish we could have had more while we still had some of the original sons and daughters of Angela and John. Guess us 5 could do one some time??!! Are ya up to it.?
